The pressure of the Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals literally brought 10 year old contestant Hollie Steele to tears. Hollie Steele was eventually given a second chance to perform and moved on to the finals.
Why do they have 10 and 12 year old children competing in this talent competition with 50 year old people like Susan Boyle? Children should not be put under this type of pressure to perform or they will crack up and have a nervous breakdown. Natalie Okri (HQ) Semi-final BGT 2009
Piers Morgan has dismissed claims that young children should not be allowed to compete on Britain’s Got Talent.
The show’s judge spoke out after 10-year-old Hollie Steel’s on-air breakdown sparked concern from viewers last night.
Steel was given a second chance to perform in the fifth semi-final after bursting into tears during her original rendition of ‘Edelweiss’.
Reflecting on the incident, Morgan told Sky News: “Kids do tend to get nervous about these things. But the idea that this should be the basis for removing all children from Britain’s Got Talent is just ridiculous.”
The former tabloid editor also responded to remarks made by psychologist David Wilson, who accused show chiefs of exploiting contestants like Susan Boyle.
Morgan insisted: “[The producers] have a whole army of doctors, psychiatrists and experts all available to any contestant at any time. They have all been taking great care of Susan.”

American Idol and BGT judge Simon Cowell is extremely cold towards the little girl and seems more concerned about continuing the program so they won’t lose sponsors. Holly begs to get a second chance and sing the song again but the tears flow even harder when Simon breaks the news that her lackluster performance will have to be used to determine whether she stays in the competition. This is not the first time that Britain’s Got Talent judges made their young contestants cry. Piers Morgan seemed more concerned for 50 year old contestant Susan Boyle after her she threatened to quit BGT over her swearing meltdown fallout than the young children who he voted off the show.

Lily Allen posted a tweet on Twitter where she accused the BGT show and judges of child cruelty. 10 year old BGT contestant Natalie Okri who was dubbed baby Beyonce called Simon Cowell a “meanie” after he made her cry and voted her off the show.
Piers Morgan has admitted that he felt guilty after Natalie Okri was voted off Britain’s Got Talent.
The judge revealed that despite the 10-year-old’s tears, she was soon smiling backstage after being reunited with her mother.
Writing on his blog, he said: “I’d just like to say a special word about poor young Natalie, who was distraught at missing out on her final place.
“I was watching as she walked off the stage at the end crying, and thinking, like everyone, ‘I hope her mum’s here somewhere’. [DIGITAL SPY]
Britain’s Got Talent reject Natali Okri has claimed that Simon Cowell is a “big meanie” for not voting her into the show’s final.
The ten-year-old singer was kicked off the ITV1 talent contest on Sunday night after Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan chose to save dance group Diversity instead.
Okri, who broke down in tears after the result, blamed her choice of song – Jamelia’s ‘Superstar’ – for her exit.
“I hated the song I sang, it didn’t let me show how good my voice is,” she told The Mirror. “I agreed with Simon when he said it was the wrong song for me, although I still think he’s a big meanie for voting against me.”
The youngster’s mum Tabeth Mupondihunga agreed, blaming the show’s producers for stifling her daughter’s talent.
“The songs that Natalie wanted to sing were dismissed by the producers and we, without knowing better, gave in to their demands,” she said. “They even told Natalie not to dance as much, when she is a very good dancer.
“We knew that Simon would not like the song and I think the producers knew that too. I am not angry with the judges and I am incredibly proud of my little girl.” [DIGITAL SPY]

The Smile singer took to her Twitter account to make the comments.
“I think Britain’s Got Talent is verging on child cruelty,” she wrote. “That poor little Natalie girl.
“Also Susan Boyle is so overrated. My goddaughter aged four was in a hysterical fit of tears. Not cool, [Simon] Cowell.”
Lily then justified her comments about Susan, adding, “I’m allowed to have an opinion. I thought her timing was off, no control and I don’t think she has an amazing voice.
“Yes, she can sing but, if it’s about talent, that Shaheen kid should win.” [SHOWBIZ SPY]

If you watch the video, one of the hosts tells Hollie that she cannot perform again because of time constraints. it is Simon who tells her that she CAN perform again and that they’ll find the time for her to do so. Please do your own fact checking. Simon is not always kind, but in this case, he was not “extremely cold.”
Holly Steel is better than Natalie. She’s new Julie Andrews….
