Famed Spanish director Pedro Almodovar shocked the press at Cannes when he admitted performing oral sex on an actress to get a scene right.

We are diehard Almodovar fans and wonder what film this directing technique was used on to inspire actors. Maybe Almodovar provided motivation to Javier Bardem in one of our favorite Almodovar films “Live Flesh” but this is pretty unorthodox. Yikes. We are excited that Pedro Almodovar is reunited with Oscar winning actress Penelope Cruz but kind of freaked out about an updated US version of “Women on The Verge of a Nervous Breakdown” being developed by Fox. This project could definitely get lost in translation. Penelope Cruz looked lovely in lilac at the Broken Embraces premiere despite suffering from the flu. We hope you feel better Penelope….

Spanish film-maker Pedro Almodovar, explaining Tuesday how he directs his cast, jokingly claimed he once performed oral sex on an actress to show how he wanted it done.

“I play all the roles on set,” Almodovar said at Cannes where he is attending the premiere of his latest oeuvre “Broken Embraces.”

“In a film I made a long time ago … I even performed cunnilingus on an actress to show the actor how to do it,” he joked at a press conference as he sat next to Penelope Cruz, who stars in his new movie.

“Broken Embraces” recounts the tragic love affair between a young actress and a director. The film is one of 20 in the running for the festival’s Palme d’Or top prize to be handed out on Sunday.

Almodovar said he was going to leave Cannes on Friday “so I don’t give the impression that I’m waiting for an award.”

“But I’m prepared to come back on Sunday even it’s to get an award for best actor or best director,” he quipped. [SOURCE]
