Susan Boyle seemed on top of the world before her second place finish on Britain’s Got Talent. The Sun UK is reporting that the BGT singer suffered a nervous breakdown after she lost the talent show and had to be checked into Priory mental health clinic. Susan Boyle made headlines when news of her cursing rant at a television set about her 12 year-old competitor Shaheen Jafargholi leaked to the world.

“I don’t think anyone understood the far-reaching implications of Susan’s learning disability,” Sara Nathan, the Sun’s television editor told “Good Morning America” today. “I don’t think people quite realized how difficult she was and the extent of her problem.”

Boyle would not be the first person to crack under the media scrutiny and pressure of television competition. In the “Britain’s Got Talent” semifinals, 10-year-old Hollie Steele broke down in tears after flubbing her song.

“TV production companies need to think how they consent people for these kinds of programs because I wonder whether people are aware just how much publicity they are going to have,” Chris Thompson, chief medical officer at the Priory Clinic, told the BBC.

But “Britain’s Got Talent” judge Piers Morgan downplayed Boyle’s trip to rehab, saying some of the details were overblown.

“The reports of her running around half-naked were massively exaggerated,” Morgan told “GMA.” “She was feeling the heat… it wasn’t because she lost, she was incredibly dignified in her defeat… Let me assure, she’s fine.”[ABC]

SuBo also reportedly swore at BGT producers before her performance on the Final show because her dress had not arrived on time.

Favourite Susan, beaten by dance act Diversity, faced a backlash last week when she was ushered from her previous hotel by worried show bosses after a rant in a bar.

She was also spoken to by cops after arguing with her sister.

And The Sun can reveal the brave singer fled the final stage in tears after belting out I Dreamed A Dream from Les Miserables, the song that made her famous.

She had been booed by sections of the audience after show judge Piers Morgan made her his tip to win.

After leaving the spotlight, Susan sank into the arms of producers and buried her head in her hands before starting to cry.

Earlier, she had launched into a furious four-letter outburst when told her glittering stage costume had failed to arrive just 15 minutes before she was due to appear on stage.

The singer was made a floor-length silver gown for the event, but a source said: “I was in the dressing room when she came in with some production staff. She looked like she was about to explode and was swearing.

“Susan was wearing a red robe, and a girl from production was trying to calm her down by saying, ‘Your dress will be here any moment’.

“That was what set her off. It was 15 minutes before the show, and she didn’t have her dress. I guess that could push anyone over the edge. They ushered her into a room, but we could still hear her swearing like a trooper.” [ SUN UK]

Susan Boyle was rushed to the rehab clinic hospital after she collapsed from 24 hours of tears after an emotional rant.

The Sun told exclusively yesterday how the Scottish virgin – dubbed SuBo – was admitted to the unit in Southgate, North London, suffering from exhaustion.

As she entered the clinic on Sunday she called out for her beloved cat, wailing “Where’s Pebbles?” until medics arranged a phone call to the purring pet.

Susan had gone into meltdown hours after losing in the ITV1 final to dance group Diversity.

A show source said: “Susan couldn’t stop crying and couldn’t calm down.

“She worked herself into such a frenzy that she fainted. We called down for a doctor and the production company called their GP, who arrived with a psychiatrist to assess Susan as she’d been under extreme pressure.”

A senior show source said: “We’re all quite shaken. Susan spent the entire day in tears. We knew we had to call a doctor to see her.”  The Sun told yesterday how Susan, who has learning difficulties, fled the final stage in tears after belting out her audition song I Dreamed A Dream.

Show insiders claimed that once backstage she yelled, “I hate this show” and hurled a glass of water at a staff member before being driven from the studio.

Sources revealed how she flapped her arms at the clinic while in a panic over her cat – which is being looked after by pals.

One said: “Susan was distraught and convinced they’d taken her cat. She was crying she hadn’t fed Pebbles and flapping her arms like a confused child.

“It was incredibly distressing. She was talking to herself then went quiet.”
