The whole world watched and mourned the global Michael Jackson memorial service. According to Nielsen the funeral brought high rating with more than 31 million viewers tuning in within the US and a global viewership at more than a billion people.

The question remains for fans about where the King of Pop’s body has been buried.  There are the reports that Michael Jackson may be buried at Neverland with one report claiming that a family friend said that Michael Jackson’s coffin will be buried in concrete to prevent fans from digging up the grave.

Authorities told ‘E! Online’ that the casket was taken to the Forest Lawn Cemetery.

But several media sources have claimed that the coffin never arrived at the mortuary.

Was it sneaked past reporters? Or was it taken to one of the other four Forest Lawn Cemeteries in Los Angeles?

Only the Jackson family can answer these questions but they are remaining silent.

Bryan Hill, spokesman for the LA County Registrar, said: “Forest Lawn is his rest place. It’s just like if you had a parent pass away. You do it at an outside church, then you bring it back to the cemetery.”

He added that the records office isn’t going to be personally checking to ensure that Jackson’s body is where protocol dictates: “Are we going to police it as a county to make sure he doesn’t leave there? You know how entertainment goes.”

Confusion arose immediately after the memorial service as to where the King of Pop’s coffin was supposed to be taken. [source]

It has been confirmed that Michael Jackson’s brain was removed and preserved after an autopsy was conducted. News of the World is reporting that Joe Jackson suspects foul play and wants further tests to detemine whether Michael Jackson was poisoned.  Radaronline has information that Janet Jackson might have attempted an unsuccessful intervention on Michael Jackson.

Michael Jackson’s brain was removed during an autopsy by the L.A. Coroner and preserved in jar of formaldehyde like a common lab specimen. What’s to become of it?

Pathologists plan to study its tissues to try to unlock clues to the 50-year-old King of Pop’s untimely death from cardiac arrest. But after it reveals its secrets then what?

The brains of a number of famous people including President John F. Kennedy and scientist Albert Einstein also were removed. In Kennedy’s case, it was studied after his assassination, just like Jackson’s will be studied.

Many specimens end up at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C., which has a museum of medical oddities that is open to the public.
For More on Michael Jackson:

Dr. Michael Baden, a forensic pathologist who has been involved in high-profile autopsies, including those of Anna Nicole Smith and more recently David Carradine, told FOXNews.com that it’s normal to remove the brain for study after death.

When the cause of death is easily determined, a detailed analysis is usually unnecessary. But in a case like Jackson’s, where the cause of death is not immediately evident, the brain is removed for a more thorough study by a neuro-pathologist.

During the initial autopsy, the coroner was unable to cut Jackson’s brain finely enough to analyze it, Baden added.

“With Michael, the brain is important for two reasons,” Baden said. “One, you try to determine whether any type of the unusual behaviors he demonstrated throughout the years may be associated with an abnormality of the brain. Also, if, say, he overdosed a month ago, that may show in the brain.”

“This permits the neuropathologist to look at any microscopic lesions in the brain,” Baden said. “These lesions can show whether he had overdosed in the past, whether he’s suffered some sort of brain damage, whether there was injury from drugs. It can also show whether he was beaten as a child or was born with some sort of congenital abnormality.”

Sounds like it could amount to an invasion of privacy.

Once the examination is finished, the brain is sometimes incinerated or it can be returned to the family to be buried with the body, Baden said. [source]
