This is a big day for Michael Jackson fans – today, the first song since his death is being released.
It will be followed up by an album in two weeks.
The song is named for the tour Michael Jackson was rehearsing for when he died, “This Is It”, never before heard by fans now eager for anything related to the late star.
It is just the beginning of a Michael Jackson merchandising blitz – the song will be followed by a two disc album, a book, a worldwide memorablia tour, and of course, the movie. Fans camped out days in advance to buy tickets.
This is the Michael Jackson they are nostalgic for – the singer who thrilled audiences with his smooth moves, and those memories are worth millions to fans.
Jackson was 500 million dollars in debt when he died and forced to sell most of his stake in his beloved Neverland Ranch, but now his estate is flush, likely to earn millions and millions for decades to come.
Elvis was living mostly on royalites when he died, now he pulls in 50 million dollars a year. Jackson too is making a comeback, just not the way he had planned. It will be no surprise if this new song shoots to the top of the charts, and it could be the first of many. There is a vault full of unreleased Michael Jackson songs. [source]
