Last night NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts turned up the star power for their annual fundraiser gala.  Veteran director Spike Lee presented honoree HBO’s Sheila Nevins with an award for her contribution to documentary film.

Alec Baldwin joked about the Yankees  with his friends Ron Howard and Brian Grazer who were honored for their business partnership which has lasted more than 25 years.

The Gala drew an impressive crowd of alumni who contributed to making scholarships available for  Tisch students.

Oscar winning actress & NYU alumnus Marcia Gay Harden was lovely in a purple Carmen Marc Valvo dress.

Samuel Jackson tried his best to remain cool in his stitched up suit with a striped purple shirt in honor of the Tisch colors.  Two time Oscar winning actor Denzel Washington was scheduled to attend but unfortunately he was a no show.
