Amid a flurry of devoted Michael Jackson fans chanting and carrying signs, members of the Jackson family made their way into a Los Angeles courthouse Monday to attend a court hearing for Dr. Conrad Murray, who has been charged with involuntary manslaughter related to the death of the King of Pop.

The late pop icon’s family members — Janet Jackson, Jermaine Jackson, Katherine Jackson, among others — attended Monday’s hearing, where Jackson’s former physician appeared.

A somber Murray appeared before judge Peter Espinoza wearing a black suit and yellow tie. The embattled doctor has denied any wrongdoing and has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the June 25, 2009 death of Jackson.

Fans outside wore T-shirts in support of Jackson and carried signs that read “Justice for Michael” and “Murderer.”

Monday’s court proceeding included assigning a judge to the case, which was announced to be Judge Michael Pastor. Murray will next appear in court on June 14, at which point the judge is expected to set a date for a preliminary hearing, according to City News Service. [ET]
