Director, Lee Daniels, and the cast of Precious were big winners at the NAACP Image Awards. Congrats to all of the winners!

It was a winning night for “Precious” at the 41st NAACP Image Awards.

The heart-wrenching tale of an illiterate and abused teen who finds hope in a Harlem classroom was named outstanding motion picture and outstanding independent film at Friday’s ceremony. Stars Mo’Nique and Gabourey Sidibe, screenwriter Geoffrey Fletcher and director Lee Daniels also won.

Daniels excitedly accepted the best-picture prize, surrounded by his cast and fellow producers.

“No one in Hollywood told me they wanted to see a movie about a 350-pound black woman with HIV,” he said.

Sidibe objected, and Daniels corrected himself: “She’s not 350 pounds. This was before you were hired.”

The director twice told the orchestra to stop playing him off, but Daniels was ultimately cut off as gospel duo Mary Mary took the stage and the show came to a close.

Presented by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the Image Awards honor diversity in the arts and outstanding achievements in film, television, music and literature.

Sidibe cried as she accepted the award for outstanding actress in a motion picture for her starring turn as Precious, the overweight, twice-pregnant teen who discovers her self-worth through reading and writing.

“It’s so awesome to win! I love winning,” said the Oscar nominee, who made her acting debut with this film. “I want to thank my God for ordering my steps, for everything that my life was and everything that it is now.”

Fellow Oscar nominee Mo’Nique, who has swept the supporting actress prize throughout Hollywood’s awards season for her moving turn as abusive mother Mary Jones, added another trophy to her collection with the Image Award for her role in “Precious.”

“For all the Mary Joneses, I love you unconditionally, baby,” she said. “For all the Preciouses, I love you unconditionally. Let’s start loving each other again.”

Other winners Friday included Keri Hilson, Maxwell, “Brothers” star Daryl “Chill” Mitchell and Chris Rock.

Hilson was named outstanding new artist, Maxwell won for male artist, Mitchell took the award for actor in a comedy series and Rock accepted the documentary award for his film “Good Hair.”

Mitchell was moved to tears as he accepted his trophy.

“As long as you all got legs, I’m going to always walk,” the wheelchair-bound actor said.

On Thursday night, New Yorkers braved a snow storm to attend USA NETWORK’s CHARACTER APPROVED AWARDS reception. The invitation only event in partnership with Vanity Fair  was hosted by USA’s Mark Feuerstein who officially unveiled the 2010 honorees and their on-air vignettes.

The event was held at the iconic IAC Building, which was designed by Frank Gehry.

Guests were also treated to the first live appearance of Green Day’s “American “Idiot”  in New York City ahead of the show’s Broadway debut on Wednesday, March 24.

Brad Pitt was reunited with his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston during the televised Hope For Haiti Telethon event.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are rumoured to have split, according to reports in at least two Sunday papers this morning.

The Sunday Times says the couple have already signed legal papers to pave the way for a separation involving £205 million, as well as joint custody of their six children.

However, there is still no confirmation from either of the couple’s representatives.

Brad is reported to have full access to the couples three biological children, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne, as well as their three adopted children, Maddox, Zahara and Pax.

Rumours have been circulating for months, if not years, that all has not been well in the Brangelina camp.

The pair were significantly absent at the Golden Globes last week, despite Brad’s film Inglourious Basterds being up for an award.

He was also spotted out solo on Friday at the Hope For Haiti Now earthquake relief fund-raising event.

According to sources Tiger Woods has checked into a Mississippi rehab facility. Radaronline snapped a photo of the golf pro wearing a beard and trying to keep a low profile. Author Denizet-Lewis describes the sex addiction treatment process.

“We mock or it we say it’s not a real addiction,” said the journalist, who regularly contributes to the New York Times magazine. “But it’s very much the real deal.”

The world’s No. 1 golfer will not have an easy time of it as he tries to conquer the demons that led him to repeatedly cheat on his stunning wife with multiple women, Denizet-Lewis said. “He’s not going to be allowed to go out and golf in the morning,” said Denizet-Lewis, author of “America Anonymous: Eight Addicts in Search of a Life,” and his new book, “American Voyeur.”

“He’ll do like everyone else – get up early, eat the same food and go through the same emotions. … It’s a really intense experience,” he said.

Denizet-Lewis, who chronicles people grappling with addiction, said Woods will likely feel intense shame at first.

Patients sign a “celibacy contract” that bans all sexual contact – including masturbation – while in treatment. Also included in the pricy program are 12-step meetings, arts-therapy sessions and brutal honesty.

“People tend to come in and be pretty freaked out,” Denizet-Lewis said. “You arrive, and suddenly it hits you, ‘My God, I’m going to rehab for sex addiction.’ ”

Despite widespread skepticism about rehab for sex addicts, Denizet-Lewis said the addiction is no less crippling than a bout with booze or drugs.

“You can put down a drink or a drug and not have to see it for a while,” he said. “But you can’t go anywhere without your genitalia or your brain – those are attached to you.”

Tiger Woods has still not yet made a public statement after his sex scandal broke. There are claims that the only reason Tiger checked into rehab was to fix his tarnished image as a “Cheetah”.

Tiger Woods, who hasn’t been seen since before his early morning car crash in November led to the emergence of countless women claiming to have had affairs with the married golfer, is holed up in a sex-rehab clinic in Hattiesburg, Miss.

Radaronline.com posted photos of scruffy-faced Woods, taken by The National Enquirer, which are both owned by American Media, holding a coffee cup with a hooded sweatshirt over his head and shoulders.

Woods is staying at Pine Grove Behavioral Health and Addiction Services’ facility called Gentle Path, the site reported.

Television stations WJTV and WLBT, citing unnamed sources, confirmed that Woods is seeking treatment at the center, where security is tight and dark tarps have been placed upon wire fences, AFP reported.

Benoit Denizet-Lewis, who penned a book on sex addiction, wrote this week on his blog that Woods was receiving treatment at the sex-rehab facility, where he spent time while working on the book.

Clinic officials have refused to confirm to the television stations that Woods is there. ESPN also reported officials would not confirm Woods is a patient.

The Enquirer reported that Woods entered the facility in late December in a bid to save his marriage. He thought the out-of-the-way location would make it tougher for the media to find him.

His wife Elin demanded that he seek treatment or she would divorce him. Woods agreed, even though he thought he was OK.

But he realized that going in for treatment may also help with his golf comeback, which is planned for spring, the Enquirer reported.

Woods can expect some tough days at Gentle Path.

Elin Woods will spend a week there with him, which includes something called “disclosure day” when the golfer will have to confess all his cheating to her.

At the same time, however, Gentle Path apparently has made it as easy as possible for Woods. Patients clean their own rooms and attend group counseling but Woods was excused from both — he has maid service, the Enquirer said.

“When Tiger enters one of the public areas, other patients have been told they have to leave the room,” a source told the Enquirer.

Woods also allegedly spent about $100,000 renovating the cabin he’s staying in.

The Gentle Path process works like this, according to the Enquirer:

Patients fill out forms details their sexual history when they arrive. Then they’re grouped by their sexual problem.

Days begin with breakfast and meditation, followed by spiritual work, “shame reduction,” lectures and counseling.

During group sessions, a stop word is written on a blackboard to be used if anyone gets aroused by someone’s story.

They’re given “urge cards” that explain what to do if they get the urge to resume their sex-addiction activities. The cards instruct them to take a breath, call a friend and recite the Serenity Prayer.

The star, who was lauded as a shining light and went to straight into the A-list as a teenage actress, joined Colombian Sofia Vergara at the rather tacky event.

Wearing a trilby, polka dot shirt, black leggings, cropped jacket and sky-high heels at the event, she accessorised with a spider necklace and a faint hint of a smile.

The man offering around the sex video is a waiter with a well-known chain restaurant, according to the Daily Mirror.

He has been told he has to release the footage to an ‘offshore porn site’, and it will then be available across the world.
