Rapper Lil Wayne began serving his year long sentence for illegal gun possession at Riker’s Island.

Wayne’s father figure/mentor, Baby, also came to the courthouse to show his support.

The hip hop star has been documenting his life in a series called “The Road To Rikers”. Weezy also promises to remain productive behind bars because he has already shot more than 7 music videos.  Keep your head up Weezy!

The rapper Lil Wayne made his final public appearance as a free man for at least the next eight months on Monday afternoon, greeted by a chaotic scene in front of a Manhattan courthouse. As his black sport utility vehicle pulled up to the curb, more than 100 fans and photographers swarmed. When he stepped out, the mob followed him all the way to the door of the courthouse, at 100 Centre Street, as cameras flashed. People shoved, tripped and tumbled, and court officers pushed them to the side to clear a path.

At the center of it all, Lil Wayne calmly walked toward the entrance, his head hanging and the hood of his coat pulled over it. Once at the door, he slipped through a narrow seam in the crowd, emerging as if stepping out of thick brush.

Court officers rushed him past everyone else standing in the security line. He stepped through the metal detector to the cheers of dozens of other people in the courthouse lobby, some lined up on a winding staircase between the first and second floors to catch a glimpse. The screams and applause echoed through the cavernous first floor.

Last October, Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter Jr., pleaded guilty to attempted possession of a weapon in connection with a gun that was found on his tour bus in 2007. In exchange for his plea, prosecutors asked for a one-year sentence.

The rapper, who also goes by the nickname Weezy, had been scheduled for sentencing twice before. The first time, the judge postponed the proceeding to allow him to get dental work. The second time, last Tuesday, a fire in the courthouse derailed it.

The buzz over the sentencing on Monday started hours before Lil Wayne showed his face. Photographers and obsessed fans began milling about the sidewalk early. As the courthouse lunch break was coming to an end, more people began gathering. About 2 p.m., two S.U.V.’s pulled up to the curb and people gave chase, sprinting recklessly into the street.

The vehicle with tinted windows that carried Lil Wayne sat for a moment as the crowd pressed around. Eventually, it pulled off to circle around the block. In the interim, Lil Wayne’s mentor, the rapper Birdman, entered the courthouse, as the crowd rushed him.

Already on track to have the best-selling album of 2008, rapper Lil
Wayne leads the nominations for the 51st Annual Grammy Awards with
eight, including album of the year and best rap album for "Tha
Carter III," best rap song for "Lollipop" and best rap/sung
collaboration for "Got Money" featuring T-Pain.

Other leading artists are Coldplay, who earned seven nominations,
and Jay-Z, Ne-Yo and Kanye West, who each scored six.

In album of the year, the nominees were: Coldplay for "Viva La Vida
Or Death And All His Friends," Lil Wayne for "Tha Carter III,"
Ne-Yo for "Year of the Gentlemen," Robert Plant and Alison Krauss
for "Raising Sand" and Radiohead for "In Rainbows."

For record of the year, the nominees were: Adele for "Chasing
Pavements," Coldplay for "Viva La Vida," Leona Lewis for "Bleeding
Love," M.I.A. for "Paper Planes" and Plant & Krauss for "Please
Read the Letter."

Song of the year nominees include: "American Boy," by songwriters
William Adams, Keith Harris, Josh Lopez, Caleb Speir, John
Stephens, Estelle Swaray and Kanye West; "Chasing Pavements" by
songwriters Adele Adkins and Eg White; "I’m Yours" by Jason Mraz;
"Love Song" by Sara Bareilles; and "Viva La Vida" by songwriters
Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion and Chris Martin.

Two of West’s nominations came for his production on "Tha Carter
III" and "American Boy." He is also up against himself in the best
rap performance by a duo or group category, for "Swagga Like Us"
with Jay-Z & T.I. and featuring Lil Wayne and "Put On" with
Young Jeezy. Jay-Z also faces off against himself in that category,
with "Swagga" going up against his collaboration with Wayne on "Mr.
Carter."

In the best new artist category, Adele, Duffy, the Jonas Brothers,
Lady Antebellum and Jazmine Sullivan received nominations.

In the best pop collaboration category with vocals, the nominees
were: Alicia Keys and John Mayer for "Lessons Learned," Madonna,
Justin Timberlake and Timbaland for "4 Minutes," Plant and Krauss
for "Rich Woman," Rihanna and Maroon 5 for "If I Never See Your
Face Again" and Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown for "No Air." source

Britney Spears’ new music video for the song Circus leaked online. Do you think the old Britney is back? Britney is expected to debut her new album "Circus" at the number one spot on the Billboard charts.

Unweighted first-day sales of "Circus" through the close of
business yesterday stood at 219,000. Billboard estimates the eight
merchants who report to Nielsen SoundScan’s Building chart — Trans
World Entertainment, Best Buy, Circuit City, iTunes, Starbucks,
Borders, Target and Anderson Merchandisers — comprise about 80% of
all U.S. album sales.



Sources close to the project suggest that "Circus" could move as
much as 450,000 in its first week.



If "Circus" arrives atop the tally, it will be Spears’ fifth No. 1
album. Among female artists, only four have racked up more
chart-toppers: Barbra Streisand (eight), Madonna (seven) and Mariah
Carey and Janet Jackson (both with six). source

Kanye West was number one this week with his pop album  808’s and Heartbreak while Guns and Roses’ big comeback flopped with lackluster sales.

After nearly 17 years in the studio, one truly odd MTV VMA appearance, a failed world tour, a riot in Philadelphia, a lot of defensive talk from Sebastian Bach, a leak facilitated by Mike Piazza and DJ Eddie Trunk, a much-ballyhooed exclusive deal with Best Buy, a lawsuit involving the Offspring, the apparently empty promise of free Dr Pepper for all, innumerable and mysterious delays, $13 million in reported production costs, a Greatest Hits album, a change in managers, five possible producers, five guitarists, two bassists, three drummers, the invention of the iPod, a guy with a KFC bucket on his head, zero promotion from the album’s mastermind, and now, rumors of a potential reunion of the original lineup, Guns N’ Roses’ sixth studio album, Chinese Democracy, sold a whopping 261,200 copies its first week on store shelves.

That’s right, just 261,200 copies.

Two weeks ago, it seemed like the #1 position on Billboard’s weekly albums sales chart could have gone to either Guns or Kanye West. Chinese Democracy was released on November 23, and West’s 808s & Heartbreak dropped November 24. It was a battle that pitted one of hip-hop’s biggest stars against one of rock’s most enigmatic ringleaders, and in the end, GN’R just couldn’t contend.

When Nielsen SoundScan issued the latest national album sales data on Wednesday (December 3), it was West’s latest at #1, opening with sales of more than 450,100, leaving the #2 slot wide open for Guns … or so it seemed. Unfortunately, no one factored country crossover cutie Taylor Swift into the equation. In its third week out, her new one, Fearless, climbed from #4 to #2, thanks to sales of close to 267,400 — meaning GN’R’s first appearance on the chart in close to 20 years will be at #3.

Whether it was to pick up Kanye’s new one or Axl Rose’s magnum opus, consumers made their presence felt at record retail last week — one of the biggest shopping weeks of the year. Virtually every album in Billboard’s Top 200 experienced either increased or stronger sales, with 22 new efforts cracking the chart. Beyond ‘Ye and GN’R, two other albums debut in next week’s top 10: Ludacris’ Theater of the Mind bows at #5, selling 213,500 units, with The Killers’ Day & Age following at #6, scanning 193,400 copies. source

For Matthew McConaughey and his longtime love Camila Alves, welcoming their first son Levi Alves McConaughey on July 7 was typical of the way the couple handles everything in their lives: easy-going and as a team.

And now, in an exclusive interview and photoshoot, the 38-year-old actor opens up about becoming a father for the first time.

"We found a great rhythm," Matthew tells OK! about the delivery of baby Levi. "Contractions started kicking in. I sat there with her, right between her legs. We got tribal on it, we danced to it! I was DJ-ing this Brazilian music."  The Texas-born actor says he cut the umbilical cord in "one snip" and
got to hold his son for the first 15 minutes while doctors worked on
Camila. Both he and the Brazilian beauty — who waited to know the sex
of their baby — say they were not surprised to find out they had a boy.

"I
said, ‘Come here, little man. I saw the pecker and screamed that we’d
been right all along about him being a boy. Then I brought him over to
her ,’ Matthew said.

"It was neat to find out what the sex was because we didn’t have the doctor tell us beforehand," Camila agrees. source

Congrats to Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves! The couple welcomed a baby boy on Monday. Matthew announced that his girlfriend was pregnant and he was going to be a father on his official website blog page. This is the first child for Matthew and his beautiful baby mama Camila Alves. Matthew was spotted getting affectionate with very pregnant Camilla on the beach. We know this baby is going to grow up gorgeous because his mom is a Brazilian model. and girlfriend of two years Camila Alves have welcomed a son Monday
night, his rep Alan Nierob confirms to PEOPLE. The baby – the first
child for both – was born at 6:22 p.m. in Los Angeles, weighing in at 7
lbs., 4 oz.

"They’re so happy!" said a close pal.

In January PEOPLE’s former Sexiest Man Alive announced the couple were expecting on his website. "Camila and I made a baby together…," he wrote at the time. "We are stoked and wowed."

McConaughey’s
oldest brother, Rooster, shared their elation. "Oh, it’s going to be
fun!" he told PEOPLE. "He’ll make a really good dad because he’s got a
lot of patience. I’m excited for him. It’s about time." source

There is a new rumor that American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino is engaged and going to marry rapper Young Dro. There was another rumor last year that Fantasia was pregnant and was going to have Dro’s baby but that turned out not to be true.   

MediaTakeOut broke the news that Fantasia Barrino and her boyfriend, rapper Young Dro, are engaged. The site furthermore claimed the couple are planning to wed this fall.

The wedding date and venue were not disclosed at press time. However, it was claimed that Barrino and Dro are "planning a small event for family and friends."

Barrino, who’s an R&B singer and Broadway actress, is best known as the winner of the third season of the television series American Idol in 2004. Her first album, "Free Yourself," was certified platinum and earned her four Grammy nominations.

As for Dro, he’s a notable rap artist who is signed to the Grand Hustle label. It was his debut album "Best Thang Smokin’", released in 2006, that catapulted him into fame.

Neither Barrino nor Dro commented on the engagement and wedding reports just yet. source
