Britney Spears’ new music video for the song Circus leaked online. Do you think the old Britney is back? So far the pr machine that is spinning the new Britney seems to working it’s magic on her first week album sales. Britney is expected to debut her new album "Circus" at the number one spot on the Billboard charts.
Britney Spears’ sixth studio album, "Circus," is on track to debut
at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 next week, as the Jive set will lead
Nielsen SoundScan’s Building chart when it is released later today
(Dec. 3).
Unweighted first-day sales of "Circus" through the close of
business yesterday stood at 219,000. Billboard estimates the eight
merchants who report to Nielsen SoundScan’s Building chart — Trans
World Entertainment, Best Buy, Circuit City, iTunes, Starbucks,
Borders, Target and Anderson Merchandisers — comprise about 80% of
all U.S. album sales.
Sources close to the project suggest that "Circus" could move as
much as 450,000 in its first week.
If "Circus" arrives atop the tally, it will be Spears’ fifth No. 1
album. Among female artists, only four have racked up more
chart-toppers: Barbra Streisand (eight), Madonna (seven) and Mariah
Carey and Janet Jackson (both with six). source
Kanye West was number one this week with his pop album 808’s and Heartbreak while Guns and Roses’ big comeback flopped with lackluster sales.
BRITNEY SPEARS CIRCUS MUSIC VIDEO LEAKED | BRITNEY SPEARS CIRCUS ALBUM NUMBER #1 ON BILLBOARDAfter nearly 17 years in the studio, one truly odd MTV VMA appearance, a failed world tour, a riot in Philadelphia, a lot of defensive talk from Sebastian Bach, a leak facilitated by Mike Piazza and DJ Eddie Trunk, a much-ballyhooed exclusive deal with Best Buy, a lawsuit involving the Offspring, the apparently empty promise of free Dr Pepper for all, innumerable and mysterious delays, $13 million in reported production costs, a Greatest Hits album, a change in managers, five possible producers, five guitarists, two bassists, three drummers, the invention of the iPod, a guy with a KFC bucket on his head, zero promotion from the album’s mastermind, and now, rumors of a potential reunion of the original lineup, Guns N’ Roses’ sixth studio album, Chinese Democracy, sold a whopping 261,200 copies its first week on store shelves.
That’s right, just 261,200 copies.
Two weeks ago, it seemed like the #1 position on Billboard’s weekly albums sales chart could have gone to either Guns or Kanye West. Chinese Democracy was released on November 23, and West’s 808s & Heartbreak dropped November 24. It was a battle that pitted one of hip-hop’s biggest stars against one of rock’s most enigmatic ringleaders, and in the end, GN’R just couldn’t contend.
When Nielsen SoundScan issued the latest national album sales data on Wednesday (December 3), it was West’s latest at #1, opening with sales of more than 450,100, leaving the #2 slot wide open for Guns … or so it seemed. Unfortunately, no one factored country crossover cutie Taylor Swift into the equation. In its third week out, her new one, Fearless, climbed from #4 to #2, thanks to sales of close to 267,400 — meaning GN’R’s first appearance on the chart in close to 20 years will be at #3.
Whether it was to pick up Kanye’s new one or Axl Rose’s magnum opus, consumers made their presence felt at record retail last week — one of the biggest shopping weeks of the year. Virtually every album in Billboard’s Top 200 experienced either increased or stronger sales, with 22 new efforts cracking the chart. Beyond ‘Ye and GN’R, two other albums debut in next week’s top 10: Ludacris’ Theater of the Mind bows at #5, selling 213,500 units, with The Killers’ Day & Age following at #6, scanning 193,400 copies. source
Pop wreck Britney Spears and Russell Brand filmed some promo videos for the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards that make you go…huh… The pair talk to each other while a huge elephant is on the set in the background. MTV is really exploiting the Britney Spears meltdown at last year’s VMA’s and her mental hospital stunts to the hilt. Everyone is going to tune in to the VMA’s just to see what Britney Spears is going to do because her performance was so gosh darn awful last year. MTV is about to see rating nirvana. Britney Spears is not confirmed to attend the VMA’s but she has been nominated 17 times to encourage her to show up. Face it Britney hasn’t released a buzzworthy music video that wasn’t premiered by the paparazzo first on youtube in years. She will definitely be in the house because then she can increase her chances of winning something. Poor Britney was banned from major events this year like the Oscars because she was so dang crazy and unpredictable.
While MTV cannot confirm whether Spears will appear on the show airing
on Sept. 7, Spears’s promo appearance is a promising sign. The singer,
who has been nominated 17 times, has yet to walk away with a win and is
nominated for two this year. She is up for best female video and best
pop video. source
Britney Spears and Russell Brand have filmed an advert together for this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.
The pair – who have both battled demons in the past, with Britney suffering a public breakdown and Russell overcoming a heroin addiction – are joined in the advert by a huge gray elephant which neither of them seem to notice.
The elephant’s presence is a reference to the phrase "The elephant in the room," which is used when someone pointedly ignores an embarrassing personal fact about their companion.
In the advert, British comedian Russell – who is hosting the awards – asks Britney for advice ahead of the ceremony, cheekily referring to her performance of "Gimme More" at last year’s event which was widely criticized.
Britney responds by pretending she has no idea who Russell is, calling him "Russell Brown."
Next, Russell conducts a mock-interview with the star, after which he concludes there is "sexual tension" between them.
Britney replied: "I didn’t feel any tension."
Heath Ledger who died of an accidental overdose in Manhattan last January left his assets to his parents and siblings. According to a story in the NY Daily News the actor left his ex-fiancee Michelle Williams and his daughter Matilda Rose out of his will. His will was filed in Australia in 2003 before he made Brokeback Mountain and had a relationship with his co-star Michelle Williams.
It’s among a series of documents filed in Manhattan Surrogate’s Court that provide a peek into the fortune of the talented young "A Knight’s Tale" and "Monster’s Ball" star.
Other documents filed reveal:
Ledger’s family spent more than $39,000 on a memorial service for Ledger at Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home, including $25,000 for his casket and $450 for 40 certified copies of his death certificate.- Ledger had less than $145,000 in New York assets at the time of his death, including $100,000 spread across various bank accounts, a $25,000 Toyota Prius and $20,000 in furniture and fixtures.
The will was filed before he fell in love with actress Michelle Williams on the set of "Brokeback" and had a child with her.
It was unclear if there would be any provisions for Williams and their 2-year-old daughter, Matilda Rose.
There’s also no hint of the real size of his wealth, including the fancy Brooklyn townhouse he and Williams shared, any property in Australia or cash stuffed in trust funds. source
Heath Ledger’s family made a statement on Saturday after details were released that his will was not updated since his relationship with Michelle Williams or the birth of their daughter Matilda Rose in 2005.
HEATH LEDGER MONEY ASSETS GO TO PARENTS SIBLINGS LEFT DAUGHTER MATILDA ROSE & MICHELLE WILLIAMS OUT OF HIS WILL"Matilda is our absolute priority and Michelle is an integral part of our family," Heath’s father Kim Ledger says in a statement. According to MTV News the Federal Drug Enforment Agency is investigating actor Heath Ledger’s death.
The actor died from an accidental prescription drug overdose and the DEA is looking into details of how the actor was prescribed Oxycontin and Vicodin that were combined to form a lethal cocktail. The investigation is reportedly focused on two as yet unnamed doctors based in California and Texas.
DEA officials have made it clear that the investigation is not
looking into the circumstances behind Ledger’s death and that the
recent determination that he died from an accidental overdose of
prescription medications still stands. In addition to the pills secured
from the two doctors in question, the actor’s autopsy also found the
presence of Xanax, Valium, Temazepam (a skeletal muscle relaxant for
patients with severe insomnia) and Doxylamine (also a sleeping aid,
often prescribed to pregnant women). Those results have since been
subpoenaed by the investigators.Although it remains unclear whether there was any wrongdoing on
the doctors’ behalf — whether they both prescribed the Oxycontin and
Vicodin or did it independently of each other — the Daily News
reports that the investigation hopes to uncover the circumstances that
enabled the actor’s self-medicating mistake. "It’s an ongoing
investigation," a source in law enforcement told the paper. "It’s not
clear if there was any wrongdoing." source
