Singer Wyclef Jean has a new music video dedicated to the victims and survivors of the devastating Earthquake in Haiti. Listen to the beautiful song featuring Mavado.
WYCLEF JEAN FEAT. MAVADO – “HOLD ON
Wyclef Jean who has been very vocal in supporting the victims of Haitian earthquake has premiered a new music video for his single “Hold On”. It follows the musician as he shows music fans what they can do to bring relief to the Caribbean island.
“Hold On” has Wyclef teaming up with Mavado. This track has been embraced by music fans since around October 2009. It is still unclear whether or not the song will make it to Wyclef’s new studio album which is reportedly to be self-titled.
“Hold On” music video aside, Wyclef Jean recently hosted a global benefit concert dubbed “Hope for Haiti”. Other musicians involved at the January 22 gig included Beyonce Knowles, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Mary J. Blige, Justin Timberlake and Bono.
Celebrities performed for charity in the global “Hope For Haiti” telethon which was organized by George Clooney. According to initial estimates the fundraiser raised 9.4 million dollars. It was great that the world united for the event but aren’t those numbers pretty low if you have celebs like Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts who have earned $15 million pay days yet they still haven’t made significant donations?
The average compassionate person will donate to charity even if Reese Witherspoon or Jack Nicholson isn’t answering the phone. It would have been a good idea to have every celebrity pledge a minimum of $1 million dollars to have the opportunity to answer a phone. We were glad to hear that George Clooney and Leonardo DiCaprio each donated a million dollars. Isn’t that what everybody should do for the cause if they have the financial means?
Sometimes these events appear to be photo ops with the actors answering phones to get exposure for themselves. At least Wyclef’s tears and pain are real for his people. Kanye West spoke from his heart during the Hurricane Katrina telethon and he was rumored to be banned from MTV during the Haiti For Hope concert for his outspoken nature. What Kanye said during Katrina was an unselfish moment for him and his actions almost cost him his career. Kanye’s old comments about Katrina and “looting” are resurfacing and causing debate.
If he was banned then it was a double standard because Madonna was allowed to attend and she has been the Queen of controversy during her career.
Speaking of photo ops we expect Sean Penn to dig in the Port Au Prince rubble like he waded through the waters in New Orleans and hung out in the hospital ward in Iraq.

What is an Oscar winning actor supposed to do between gigs? We pray for the people of Haiti. Binside TV received a first hand account of the devastation in Haiti from photographer Bennett Raglin.
I recently returned from covering the devastation in Haiti for Sipa Press. No amount of TV news stories can truly explain what has happen in Haiti. There is total destruction in the capital Port-au-Prince. The children and old people are the ones suffering most. If you have not donated money yet please donate. If you have donated, please donate again. And, if you need to be convinced please take a moment to review some of the images I took while on assignment. Thank you for your support. My country is in great suffering” … Very excited, the Haitian-born rapper Wyclef Jean sang, will draw viewers from around the world to give to Haiti.

The switchboard, the actress Julia Roberts, director Steven Spielberg, Jack Nicholson and many others have received pledges for two hours.Actor George Clooney chaired the evening; he has donated one million dollars:

Blige, Alicia Keys, Jay-Z and many others have sung …
Between each song, pictures of the situation in Port-au-Prince or testimony were released.
Anticipating possible criticism of the artists, the singer of Cold Play, Chris Martin, said their action:
“When something terrible and tragic happens, you must use all your strength, do anything to help. We have no medical skills. Individually, we would be useless on the ground. So the best thing to do is what we do. ”It is unclear how much money the telethon “Hope for Haiti Now” was picked as the operation continues on the internet.
According to the You Tube video description “George Clooney hosts a star-studded telethon feauring Madonna, U2, Bruce Springsteen and dozens more to raise money to help earthquake victims in Haiti. (Jan. 22) “

Oprah Winfrey aired her Haiti special with special guest Wyclef Jean, Rihanna and Maxwell. Wyclef gave his own heartwrenching firsthand account of the devastation in his homeland. He spoke about the overwhelming amount of dead bodies and pleaded with journalists that the survivors needed aid and not “photo ops”.
Wyclef Jean Talks Haiti and Rihanna Sings on Oprah 1/20/10
Rihanna performed Bob Marley’s “Redemption” song which is available on iTunes. Maxwell finally admitted he was Haitian after singing his song “Fist Full of Tears” from his hit album Blacksummer’s night. Glad to see Maxwell claimed his heritage. He’s been saying he was raised by his Dominican grandmother for years. Now he is half Haitian and Puerto Rican. Maxwell made the announcement about Haiti during his MSG concert. We will always love him. “Hope For Haiti Now A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief” telethon airs Friday at 8pm ET/PT. Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, Bono, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Mary J. Blige and Justin Timberlake are some of the celebrities performing on the show.
Maxwell on Oprah (Fistful of Tears)
The homecoming for headliner Maxwell was sweet: The Garden went completely dark for a few seconds as the chorus from Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind” warmed up the arena.
Max walked out in a dark three-piece suit. The singer started his set on the main stage, but later took to a runway that split into a Y-shaped fork. He had a giant video screen behind him that broke into four smaller screens and later into two ones.
“Even though she pays me no attention/ All I wanna show is my affection/ Lose myself inside her ebony,” he sang during “Sumthin’ Sumthin’.” “She ain’t even checking me,” he continued, dropping to his knees to add drama. On cue, women in the audience started screaming.
Dance splits followed, and then Max dragged the mic stand onto the runway. He faked walking back to the main stage, then ran down the left side of the runway, slapping hands, then did the same down the right side.
The tempo slowed down for the soulful “Lifetime.” “Sometimes you just wanna smack your boss in the face,” he improvised. “But you gotta put food on your table … Brooklyn, stand up!”
The lyrical seductions continued on “Bad Habits” (from his recent chart-topping BLACKsummers’night LP) and one of the biggest crowd-pleasers of the night, “Fortunate.”
It looked like Maxwell might actually drop a few real tears at one point in the night. He started assessing the moment.
“I’m from Brooklyn, New York,” he told the crowd. “My family is from the West Indies: My mother is from Haiti and my father is Puerto Rican. Things like this are not are supposed to happen to us,” he said about headlining the Garden. “I’m gonna sing this song with all my heart and if you could help me, I would be so happy.”
He then went into “This Woman’s Work,” which was written by Kate Bush but has become one of Maxwell’s signature songs.
After his recent hit “Pretty Wings,” Max played with the audience a little.
“Y’all didn’t hear what happened?” he asked. “Are y’all playing with me?” He then told then what happened.
“It happened the moment when you were revealed,” he sang with no beat, going into “Ascension.” ” ‘Cause you were a dream that you should not have been/ A fantasy real …”
“You gave me this beating, baby,” he continued as the audience sang along, at times letting them take the lead. “This rhythm inside/ And you made me feel good and feel nice and feel loved/ Give me paradise.”
The band then started the song over, with the beat this time. After the song concluded, someone threw a pair of panties onstage.
“I have all over my forehead!” Max joked.

Rihanna covered Bob Marley classic Redemption Song on Oprah Winfrey’s chatshow yesterday in dedication to the people of Haiti.
The star then put the track on sale via iTunes with all money raised going to help the earthquake hit area.
Speaking to the host Ri’ said: “This song for me, growing up, anytime there was a difficult situation, I always listened to this song because it was so liberating
“Even now I listen to it when my back is up against the wall. I feel like the people of Haiti need to hear something inspiring.”
The Umbrella singer will appear at the Hope For Haiti Now event which takes place this Friday.
She said: “Everybody needs to tune in. We need your help.”
R&B sensation Jay Sean celebrated his chart topping success with a LA album release party for his debut “All Or Nothing.
The UK singer is breaking records as his single “Down” featuring Lil Wayne remained on the Billboard top 10. Jay Sean is the first British urban male artist to have a number one single in the states and the highest ranking Asian artist in Billboard history. Jay Sean is already receiving advice from Justin Timberlake and has celebrity fans like Leonardo DiCaprio. Hollyscoop was behind the scenes on the set of the “Do You Remember” music video.
Jay Sean collaborated with Sean Paul and Lil Jon on the catchy track, which is all about remembering the good times in your life. The three guys shot the New York City-inspired video on New York street at Paramount Studios last week.
“See, I’m a postive person, ya know?” Jay told Hollyscoop. “I like to make people happy. And for me, I wanted to do an anthem that when it drops in the club, it doesn’t matter what’s going on in your life, you wile out, you act stupid, you get together with your boys, with your girls, or whatever it is, and you remember the good times, and there’s always a reason to be happy.”
Jay, Sean, and Jon are all so different sounding, and we love how they came together! The video features a ton of dancers, who were at the shoot until 8am that morning! Talk about dedication.
Jay Sean spread the holiday joy by performing his hit Down during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade and has a new music video collaboration with Sean Paul and Lil Jon.
A singer-songwriter originally from England, Jay Sean dropped out of medical school to pursue his music career. While in England, he took the stage name “Jay Sean,” which is probably more marketable than his birth name of Kamaljit Singh Jhooti. He became known for working on projects fusing traditional Punjabi music and contemporary Pop and R&B (check out Dance With You) and has developed a following in many countries including India.
Jay Sean (Feat. Lil Jon & Sean Paul) – Do You Remember
Flanked by hype man Lil Jon and Jamaican rapper Sean Paul, Cash Money R&B pop star Jay Sean follows up his chart-topping U.S. debut single “Down,” with a “block party” video for “Do You Remember.”
“I love the idea of the street vibe,” Sean told MTV News on the video set last month. “Having folks together, out in the street at midnight. The video is all about having fun, having a party, enjoying yourself. So, we did the whole block-party thing!”
The video was shot in Los Angeles and features cameos from fellow Cash Money/ Young Money artists, Birdman and Tyga. Of course, having the King of Crunk and the purveyor of the imperial blaze on hand only served to further kick the party vibe up a notch.
“I can hype up milk,” Lil Jon bragged. “Gimme some milk, and I can hype it up. But Jay Sean is singing to these ladies right now! He’s making them dance with these uptempo records! Jay Sean has his own lane right now.”The sentiment was echoed by Sean Paul, who first connected with Jay Sean in September, on the red carpet of the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.
“Jay Sean got a hot song and I got a hot eight bars on it,” Sean Paul said. “He gave me fire, in the vein of ‘Down,’ so of course I had to step to it.”
The video for “Do You Remember” is the second to drop from Sean’s U.S. debut album, All or Nothing, which came out last week.
Check out the latest from Birthday singer Jeremih called “Raindrops”. Jeremih did a song for the strippers in the club and gave the pole dancers the spotlight in his video.

Timbaland is back for another round of mayhem with his new album, Shock Value II.
Hitting stores December 8, the album branches out from strictly hip-hop and features pop stars such as Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and his good friend Justin Timberlake, along with rockers like Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger, the Fray and Daughtry. However, Drake is featured on the album’s next single, “Say Something,” about a famous man who makes plenty of money, but neglects to spend enough quality time with his girl.
“What’s a star when his most important fan is missing?” Drake raps. “We can work it out,” he sings on the chorus. On the track, Timbaland describes his relationship with his woman as a “catastrophe,” however the beat is buoyant — “Say Something” is built for the party.
“Meet in tha Middle” is a bit more optimistic, with Tim singing, “We gotta meet in the middle” on the hook. You’ll recognize Brandy’s vocals holding down the background duties, but you definitely won’t believe your ears when she comes in on a guest verse. Credited under the moniker Bran Nu, the veteran singer introduces an MC alter-ego.
“I been giving you more than a little, had the ball then you double-dribbled,” she raps. “You don’t listen, I don’t never get my point across/ I washed your dirty draws, you out with dirty broads/ You did me dirty dawg, cause you’se a dirty dog/ It’s a curtain call and I ain’t mad at all.”
