Trey Songz heats things up with his new music video for the hit song “Neighbors Know My Name” starring supermodel Jessica White.
Rapper Kanye West has returned from a career break with the song “Coldest Winter” which was dedicated to his late mother Donda West. R.I.P Mother West.
Last month, Kanye West made a tentative return to caps-locked, stream-of-consciousness blogging, but new work seemed far off for the embattled rapper/producer/awards-show-saboteur. Today, however, Kanye’s own remix of his “808s & Heartbreak” track “Coldest Winter” gets an appropriately chilly video from Ye’s frequent director Nabil Elderkin. The Nordic-gothic vibe and levitating-woman-chased-through-the-woods plot has echoes of Royksopp’s fantastic “What Else Is There?” clip, apropos for a song about the breakup of West’s engagement and the loss of his mother. Though Kanye doesn’t make an appearance in it, the song’s edit is both epic and intimate, equal parts brutal taiko drums and ambient banshee shrieks and radio static. It’s a perfectly spooky tiptoe back into public creative life for Kanye.
Singer Keri Hilson is hard at work on her Sophmore album. Here is the scoop according to Billboard:
The singer/songwriter capped 2009 with two Grammy nominations: best new artist and best rap/sung collaboration for “Knock You Down,” featuring Kanye West and Ne-Yo. Now Hilson is getting busy in the studio recording the still-untitled follow-up to her gold-certified solo debut, “In a Perfect World.” Aiming for the Memorial Day holiday as a target release date, Interscope urban music head DJ Mormile promises that the three guiding lights behind Hilson’s first album-Timbaland, Polow Da Don and Danjahandz-are back onboard. “They’re the cornerstones,” says Mormile, who also notes that West, Will.i.am and emerging songwriter/producer Jeff Bhasker will also be involved. And signs are pointing to fellow newcomer Drake being a featured guest as well. “We’re just getting into this,” says Mormile, who hopes to have a first single out in March, if not sooner. “But we already have an idea of what we want to do. This album will continue the evolution of Keri, building off the hits ‘Knock You Down’ and ‘Turning Me On,’ which helped define her. This new album will be ‘Turning You On’ times 10.”

Pop stars Rihanna and Keri Hilson are gracing magazine covers. Rihanna is posing on the cover of W magazine and talking about tattoos and Chris Brown.
Though her dulce de leche skin is lineless and her eyes bright as a baby’s even after a long workday, it’s easy to forget that Rihanna is only 21 years old. Perhaps that’s because she has released four hit-filled albums in only four years, making her debut at age 17 seem aeons ago. Or maybe it’s that her performances are a paradigm of cool self-possession; in the video for “Run This Town,” the Grammy-nominated song she recorded with Jay-Z and Kanye West last year, her voice is so full and centered, her panache so effortless, that she makes the world’s biggest hip-hop stars seem little more than backup singers. Finally, of course, it could be because, over the past year, she has endured not only the now infamous abuse by her then boyfriend Chris Brown but also the subsequent leaking of photos of her disfigured face, months of paparazzi stalking and incessant news coverage. The Barbadian-born pop star, however, has her own explanation for her preternatural maturity: “I’ve been paying my own bills since I was 17, living in a foreign country,” she says out of expertly shellacked fuchsia lips that are almost always perched in a half smile. “And I’ve always been a little older than my real age. People always said that to me, and I always felt that in my head.”
Keri Hilson delves deep into explaining her relationships with men in the new issue of Jet.
“I like a guy that is wise and can stimulate me with conversation..I don’t fancy entertainers or ballplayers..” –Keri Hilson
There have been some controversial statistics about why attractive, successful Black women are still single and looking. Keri has access to eligible entertainers and ballplayers who have bank and clout. She doesn’t need to limit her dating pool to someone who is not in the same league and can barely offer conversation. C’mon girl. Why do beautiful, talented and intelligent sisters have to downplay their accomplishments to get a date? Do you think Kim Kardashian and her sister Khloe were thinking about that before they landed their bankrolled ballers? Ask Tiger Woods about the technique. Beckys know how to play the field.

The vehicle that Sigel was traveling in was totaled and he escaped with several injuries to his face, arms and legs.
Bruised, battered, scared but hard, Sigel declined hospital treatment and miraculously performed the next day in Norfolk, VA and is tentatively scheduled to go on an up coming tour with 50 Cent in 2010.
I guess it’s safe to say that the Mack is built for it tough!
The 2010 Grammy Award Nominations were announced in Los Angeles at a live concert.
Beyonce led with 10 nominations with Taylor Swift following in a close second with 8 Grammy noms. Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Maxwell and Keri Hilson were also nominated. Congrats to all of the nominees!
Taylor Swift has won just about every top music award there is this year, but the possibility of winning not just one, but eight Grammys, had the 19-year-old screaming for joy as the nominations were announced.
“I started freaking out and jumping up and down,” Swift said in a telephone interview Wednesday night after learning of her nominations, which included album of the year for her sophomore CD “Fearless” and mentions for song and record of the year.
“I honestly never would have predicted this, eight nominations — I’m ecstatic, and blown away and so so thankful,” the stunned country sensation said.
Swift’s haul of eight nods was only second to another blonde superstar — Beyonce, who got 10. The multi-hyphenate diva, who had an amazing year even on Beyonce terms, including performing at the inauguration for President Barack Obama and the first lady and a No. 1 movie with “Obsessed,” was rewarded for her fierce year. The Grammy-winner was nominated once again, this time for album of the year for her double CD, “I Am … Sasha Fierce,” song of the year for her ubiquitous anthem, “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” and song of the year for “Halo,” as well as other awards.
Another diva was also nominated in all three categories: Lady Gaga. The eccentric entertainer, who had five nominations overall, garnered a best album mention for her debut CD, “The Fame,” while her “Poker Face” got nominations for record and song of the year. Other nominees for album of the year were the Black Eyed Peas for “The E.N.D.” and Dave Matthews Band’s “Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King.”
The Black Eyed Peas were also nominated for record of the year for their feel-good song, “I Gotta Feeling,” while the Kings of Leon were nominated for “Use Somebody.” The Kings of Leon hit was also nominated for song of the year, as well as Maxwell’s comeback hit, “Pretty Wings.”
The Black Eyed Peas, Maxwell and Kanye West got six nominations each, while Jay-Z and DJ David Guetta got five.
The country act the Zac Brown Band was nominated for best new artist, along with R&B siren Keri Hilson, rockers MGMT, the punk duo the Ting Tings and the rock group the Silversun Pickups. The year’s most popular new artist, Lady Gaga, wasn’t eligible; her single “Just Dance” had been nominated last year, before she was a platinum-selling act; previous Grammy nominees can’t be nominated in the category.
